Texas

What color should they be when ripe?
Yellow?
There are 550 species according to wikipedia and previously I grew one from seed that produced purple fruit. https://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=pain6
describes the fruit as orange-yellow fruit. https://www.wildflower.org/plants/search.php?family=Passifloraceae&newsearch=true was also googled up and seems to provide information on our natives.

Interestingly enough to me I lived across from the Lady Bird Center when I was in Austin.

I'm thinking of ordering some of these to put in the tractor that I'm making. Has anyone tried them or regular Freedom Rangers? I hope they can deal with our heat.

@jolenesdad lives a bit north of Houston. Done a lot of research. Good read. I would recommend waiting until after August heat.

If you browse the thread that @RUNuts linked the Royal Red that I’ve raised are fairly equivalent to the Freedom Ranger CY.

I think if they come after mid August you’re good to go! I personally found them to be getting hot after 6 weeks of age which for me was end of June/first of July and ended up processing 90% of them at 9 weeks. Not a horrible deal but they probably could go a lot longer than that in better weather. I have a few that really moved around that I didn’t take to the processor and will go as scheduled at 12 weeks.

Hump day humor SilkieCuts 1.0 .

I had mentioned posting photos of my silkie roo haircuts. My barbary skills are somewhat lacking and my customers aren't very patient, but here is the before:

and after:

I do need to refine this cut as it does provide adequate side vision for the birds but I am finding it somewhat lacking for perceiving aerial threats. I do have until the winter season to revise this little guy's haircut before our overwhelming numbers of raptors return.

My husband and I bought some property next door that has an old dilapidated house on it. I have to share this photo.

I see loads of coop potential. Do you have any plans for your new found dilapidated structure?

I see recoverable lumber there should you tear it down to re-purpose it. The stuff with the green paint on it does make me think you should pretend there isn't a hantavirus threat there vs a lead paint threat, but a respirator(or N-95 mask)might be a consideration.
