Why do you all live so far away?

I just lost my golden laced wyandotte roo. I am looking for a roo of a breed that lays brown eggs. I live near San Antoni
Ruth Caron near San Marcos has Wyandottes and other breeds. You might check with her. www.farmerinthemartindale.com

I am in Hallsville, between Marshall and Longview. Probably a little far for you to pick up one. But if you have friends in East Tx!!!!!!!!
Hey Nieghbor!! Im from hallsville to!!! Carzy!!! I wish I had a need for one of your roosters but I have four of my own I am trying to get rid of!!

It sure is! I lived on Signal Hill for 20+ years - both of my girls were raised there. It was a lot different then - in the 80s - I hardly recognized it last time I drove there.

We moved in the 1994. My kids still talk about "home". We had 40 acres - much more room for animals. Now we live on 2 acres.

I am wanted to build a larger coop in the next few months with recycled materials too. I would love any pics as you have them. Could always use ideas!
I found the toughest part is finding the materials. I posted a request on freecycle and found a couple of people that had torn down buildings with intentions of doing something with the old lumber, but never did. I had to pull a few nails but all in all the lumber was perfect for my coop and well aged.

I'll post some pics as I get further along.

Hi Texas neighbors,
I live just outside Edom, in east Texas (west of Tyler about 20 miles) I have a wonderful chicken family, however a couple of months ago I got a hen, just outside Frankston, and she was an Infectious Coryza carrier. My whole flock of 12 was infected. I had them inside 2-3 at a time as they came down with it, and gave them Tylan injections, for as many days as it took to clear their symptoms. I only lost one and I believe that's about the norm for Coryza. The carrier was treated too, and now her comb and waddles are bright red, (they were almost gray when I got her). That flock is closed, but I have some Easter Egger chicks that I'm keeping inside until I get the new coop and run built. I've never had chickens before this so I'm learning something new everyday.
I'd love to hear from you.

Janice

Thank you, any pics you could post would be a great help.
I have found a couple designs here on BYC that use old Pallets. And have found a couple places near me that give away used pallets. For me, that's a start. I know there are other materials I will need, and hopefully I will not have to pay full price for those either....

Hi from Farmers Branch! I searched this thread and didn't see anyone that was from my area...except for Dallas of course. How do you go about finding out what the city ordinances are for having chickens in your backyard?
