Hi from Farmers Branch! I searched this thread and didn't see anyone that was from my area...except for Dallas of course. How do you go about finding out what the city ordinances are for having chickens in your backyard?
Apparently you can't have chickens legally according to this blog - check it out, says she is trying to get things changed, she probably could use some help.

Here's another one - looks like the grassroots chicken page

Thank you! I was just coming back to this thread to post that there is an ordinance against having chickens in Farmers Branch.

I'm so bummed. I'll have to check out the links you posted. Maybe we can get the laws changed!

This is a "Citizen Handbook" for you, I did not see anything in there about chickens however it is full of numbers that you can contact for that information. I once had a friend who moved away from there because she could not keep her pot bellied pig there.
Good Luck!

Anyone looking for Seramas?? I have 9 Eggs collected from my quad of babies I got from Amyquilt two years ago. Check out my current auction that is up for pictures of them. Asking $3.50 an egg + $15.00 shipping (usually $4.00 an egg, so you get $.50 off each egg.) PM me for questions or to buy! THANKS! ~ Aspen

Hello everyone! New to BYC, but not new to having chickens. We live just outside of Lufkin in a rural area so no problems with livestock laws. We have 1 RIR, 2 Speckled Sussex, 2 Marans and 1 Welsummer.

I love my Speckled Sussex, I have 2 also and they are just so friendly even as 10 week old babies, everyone else acts like I am going to kill them but they come right up to me.

It sure is! I lived on Signal Hill for 20+ years - both of my girls were raised there. It was a lot different then - in the 80s - I hardly recognized it last time I drove there.

We moved in the 1994. My kids still talk about "home". We had 40 acres - much more room for animals. Now we live on 2 acres.

Yep, before I got there. I grew up in Oak Hill and it is amazing the changes!!!!
