Thats good to know. We have several owls around.
The big old gray one.
And smaller-partner calls them barn owls.
Also, we have a bird in winter; yellow chest, ground bird. Partner calls them feelocks. He says he used to shoot and eat them. I think meadowlark but eat? I don't know what they are.

Probably a Barred owl?

This is a Barn owl

Uck!!! on the meadowlark eat'n!!!
Although I have known some folks to eat them....they called them Mexican quail.
Do they look like these?

They are about as big as a dove!

They are greater kiskadees, nothing I would ever eat.

Saw the cara cara today. He was scoping the coop out.

Although they are visitors to S. Texas, I don't recall ever seeing one here or at our ranch at Big Wells.

Does anyone have a suggestion on deterring a cara cara. This is getting too nosy for comfort.
