Texas

I'm up tonight too. Keep seeing lighting out the window, but thankfully, not too much thunder (at least my dog, Kenji, is thankful). Water gauge showed 1.5 inches when we closed up the barn at 8 pm. Gonna be interesting to see what it's at in the morning. Sometimes we get lots of sound and fury, yet no rain, and other times, lots of rain, but no show.

Sighs!

Gotta get one of those little mini weather station things, have no idea how much it rained last night, but fell asleep to light thunder and fairly heavy rain. I guess my rain dance yesterday did work, lol.
I can offer constructive suggestions on what ones have worked for me since 2011.

I would love the advice. Reviews online are mixed to say the least.
1st I recommend figuring out your funding window. Because there are , imho, a few layers of bells and whistles. The brand I have had the best. And most stable Preformance is Acu-rite.

2nd know that the “wind” vane needs to be as far as possible from the house and fence or “wall of brush/trees” to have in-influenced wind and precipitation data. So knowing that.....

the weather underground group and all the other WX G33ks (that I learn from) all have a minimum height for accuracy of the WX station outside. Mine is right on that borderline. 5-6’
Mine is 5’~6” from the ground.

more later tonight?

I'll start this one.

I am in San Marcos, between Austin and San Antonio.

FYI
I have been keeping a spread sheet of Texas BYC members for several years. Right now it has 274 members on it. Of course some are no longer members or might have visited only a few times.

Texas, we are strong !
I am in Hamilton county near lampasas. I have around 100 birds. I have Brahma chickens flower hen chickens and some laying chickens. I have six dogs pigs goats and three cats. I also have several breeds of ducks geese and Egyptian geese and rescue waterfowl. I always have ducks that need adoption

I was looking at the accurite, and at the different models and price points.

Scrolling back thru this threads hurricane banter and storms we all enjoyed; I have posted many times. Live pic of the acu-rite display units screen.

are they “perfect? Nope!” But, very solid.
