Hey Y’all !! I’m in Rains County, NE Tex.. just my second week here, I’m not very hi tech.. my first time on a deal like this.. I really don’t know how it works. But gettin better.. I saw and clicked on Texas and I see a bunch of Texans.. so it’s much better now.
Welcome.
Relax.
The learning curve will
Flatten out before too long. Just be patient *with yourself*!

We have many active folks on here from, honestly, all over the world. I know of several that are my age and much older. So don’t worry about your “rookie stays” in a web forum. Especially one for chickens etc!

If you’d like I’ll go get a friends you tube video web link for you to watch… it’s like a BYC 101 for all of maybe 10-15 minutes.

Okay dokie?

Thank y'all for the welcomes! 😊 💕

By certification, I mean the NPIP certification that the flock is disease-free. I think it might give folks some reassurance that the chicks or eggs are healthy. I do see folks mentioning they have this certification when putting chicks or eggs "up for discussion" on local Marketplace messages. Usually they are in adjoining counties where there is a flock tester, though.
Unfortunately NPIP doesn't actually mean disease free. The one disease that is tested for here in Texas doesn't really even exist.
There are many more much more common diseases that are not tested for.

Don't let the NPIP label fool you It does not mean healthy. There are plenty of people out there to use that label but are selling birds with MG or Marek's disease regularly. It's sad.

Alright I know I already have 3 roos out of the bunch I got from tsc, but I'm thinking all 3 barred rocks are roos too... what do you guys think? They are almost 3 weeks. In the last pic the 2 facing off are 2 of the 3 confirmed roos, unknown breed though lol.

I am still learning. There is a few graphics shared around here and on the web…. (I miss placed one of the more recent ones diagraming the wings feather orientation)

The going wisdom I have come to accept is waiting for the 7-8week threshold to really see the feathers to show on the saddle section and the wings…..
