Texas

I also have an open air coop.
I went on Amazon and got a rivet tool. It came with 1000 rivets. I did alot of reading before I chose this one. There were cheaper ones, mine was $38.00, but you had to have solid surface and a cutter for hView attachment 3356620ole and a hammer to set grommet. This one, you just find the spot and squeeze. just got it a month ago, so far I'm loving it. I riveted clear cheaper plastic for now, I found burlap Christmas tree skirts for $1 at dollar store, cut em in half, riveted and put on nest boxes, I also found a heavy duty clear shower curtain cheap and used that. Grommeted a towel to hang in shop( I was testing it out)
I realize, this is temporary.
Ok, thanks, I was looking into the thicker clear vinyl on the internet, and thought about it.
I hate the tarps that I can’t see through. It make it so dark in there.
I realize that I only use it a few days out of the year, but I am weird when it come to dark dreary coops. To me the more natural light the better.
right now I have old political signs (the large ones that were never picked up after the election) blocking the wind where they roost.

This morning....I should have mowed before the freeze, I could've had a skating rink! 😂 Eventhough, it didn't get above freezing, some still melted but last night it got added back.

Well I didn't expect my babies water to freeze, but it did! They have three 7qt waterers and I have been getting the water from inside since it is wayyyy too cold to do it from the hose. I brought in the waterers to thaw and I used a black rubber pan with hot water for them. I put a ping pong ball to keep it from freezing. Well the thawing inside didn't work so I had to do it from scratch :barnie. I believe its maybe 15 or 20 degrees warmer in their coop. I put some straw extra straw from my goats and put in their coop, they had a lot of fun with that. About 20 degrees today, 19 degrees tonight.
I bought a K&H plate, although a bit pricey, it worked perfectly.

Ive been outta the loop for a good while, no birds at all. Whos the ttexascopper maran people with good stock to buy from now days? Who has real good heritage barred rocks?

I want to say I used to buy from bev davis, and April howington? Been 8-9 years or so...

just trying to line out contacts...

I got the K&H 2.5 gallon heated waterer. It has worked really well so far but it is also in the coop blocked from the wind. I need to buy an extra reservoir for it so I can have one ready to fill in the house instead of going to get it, bringing it in, and carrying it back out. It was around $90 but so far I am happy with it. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...thermo-poultry-waterer-heated-25-gal-gray-60w
