Ok, what exactly IS brooder box? I always put a dog crate on its side (bottom holes are bigger) and brood my babies in it. They can interact with biggies and run for safety to crate. Food and water in crate. So curious what a brooder box is.

Will be posting pictures when I get home. But that's kinda what you have there. Just a box you keep artificially warm for chicks to grow up in. A substitute hen.

I hope everything is ok! We had quite a bit of rain, thunder and lightning, but nothing crazy

The silkie did a disappearing act. I didn't see it in the yard for a day. No clue where it was hanging out. Maybe someone borrowed a chicken???
