Texas

Just asking, but would anyone in the area be looking for an LGD? Fergus is amazing with the birds, and I don't have any issues with him. I do have issues with the roommates and him. They are unable to grasp that he is an outside, working dog, and I'm sick of him being bored to death locked in the backyard or in the mudroom. I'd like to find him a home where he can do what he wants to do.

The only other option is for me to put him in with the birds or moving birds to give him a 10 x 20 dog kennel during the day and then allow him to roam at night. This won't happen because every time I go to bed with him out to keep critters away, I wake up to him locked in the mudroom.

Frankly, I'm sick of arguing about it with them.
Hmmmmm. Sounds like the roommates are showing their limited capacity to grasp the big picture that this concept of a Livestock Guard Dog is not a “declawed house cat” or a “weenie dog” that was bought by their parents (when they were kids) and then promptly ignored by them as well.

Maybe they need to spend “their night” seatbelted in the passenger seat of their car, radio off & cabin lights left on all night and as an added bonus… they must sleep in their seat with seatbelt correctly on them with the cabin lights and garage lights left on all night.

Oh wait… that’s asking way too much of them. So sorry, maybe they had the beta or goldfish?

On a completely different note, how’s about a picture of the big boy? I’ll gladly reach out to a few folks and see if any of them know anyone… I’ll be cut-n-pasting a link to this thread for them to see your post … if your okay with this idea?

He's beautiful. I'd probably keep him in the house too. (I know better, but I'm a sucker for a pretty face.)
He's gorgeous. And a very goofy boy that likes belly rubs. But he also likes to be outside under a tree keeping an eye on things, not trapped in the mudroom. It's evident when he breaks out of the yard, any time he's unattended, he doesn't want to be there either. He was positively distraught the day after an owl got one of the goslings. As soon as he was let out into the larger fenced backyard, he got into the pen and laid down with them. They chew on his tail and basically treat him like a fluffy log, but he's such a good boy with them.
I would not, we have to much clutter but he would have a nice dog house with hay scrapings for bedding out by the chicken pens..... where Midge likes to sleep. Midge the chicken cat who wanted to have her babies in a chicken nest. Who tries to sleep with chickens on the roost.
Come get him. lol Sounds like he'd have a great place and lots of work. And probably not a four-lane highway posted at 75 mph a few hundred feet away from the front of the house.

I'll start this one.

I am in San Marcos, between Austin and San Antonio.

FYI
I have been keeping a spread sheet of Texas BYC members for several years. Right now it has 274 members on it. Of course some are no longer members or might have visited only a few times.

Texas, we are strong !
I am in Fort Worth. I had a flock of 18 for 12 years and just started a new flock of 9 after the last of my original flock was wiped out by a predator. I have 2 surprise Roo’s and I have never had one before. If they are aggressive I will have to rehome them. Only 9 weeks old so now we wait lol. Here are pics of them

I feel like you're passionate about dogs and people mistreating them.

... I have found my tribe. ❤️😂

Goodness I would love to but it would have to be a decision between me and bro as we live together in the house we inherited from my dad. But if hes built for watching out for the birds it would work out. I just feel he might need more space than an acre.

He's basically got about an acre that's mowed currently. He's a bit of a princess. Doesn't like super tall grass or to get unnecessarily wet/muddy. He stays put. Every blue moon, he'll go for a little wander, and like any good outside dog, he prefers to not poop in his yard, so he pops across the street to deuce in the median and then comes back. lol Except now the median grass is too tall so he does it on a fence line.

My backyard right now is ankle deep water. >.< We have a very few high spots.
