cute little day old Wyandotte chicks (only 2) that we let one of our AG broody pullets hatch. Moms or either BLR or GL & dads or either our BLR or the black lace roo. Just trying to get more future laying hens at this point. I don't have enough pens to separate the colors, maybe in the future :fl

Wow, for the coffee table? I gotta own that book!!
Apparently it's in paper back now too - i just found the link on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Storeys-Illustrated-Guide-Poultry-Breeds/dp/1580176674/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362343952&sr=8-1&keywords=storey%27s+illustrated+guide+to+poultry+breeds

I've been into chickens for a few years now, and there's always a new breed I've never heard of being discussed here. Plus I haven't got a clue about ducks, geese, etc.
That looks like a really fun book to have! I have the APA SOP but the illustrated guide looks like a lot more fun.

gonna go look at dairy goats this week (finally caught up with the owner). I'm hoping to get 3.. gotta build more pens though before I can bring them home... plus get the front pasture fenced in with field fence instead of that darned barbed wire.

We're looking into Arwapas or possibly San Clementes....Whatever kind we get, I want them to be the smaller breed.

i have some nubians love them for personality and high butterfat milk..mine are not too big just over 100#.. good luck with them..:)
I miss having goats..
back in the 80's I worked for Shinoak Ridge Goat Dairy in Leander.. they have since shut down.. but I loved working there.. milking a few hundred goats twice a day

I've had goats since then.. but none in the past few years.. so it will be nice having them around again.. plus I love goats milk

I have a black La Mancha that I milk everyday. She is super sweet, I raised her. I never need to tie her, just tell her "stand" and she is ready to milk anywhere I need to do it.
