It's a rarity; but, a nice one when it happensGenerally, they lay a brownish coloured egg with maybe a bit of purple to it. The full on plum colours are rare, rare, rare, rare.![]()

check out the black australorps and barred rocks as well! and of course, the rhode islands and new hampshires are good ones too. all brown eggs...for white there are the leghorns and minorcas...there are plenty more but those seem like the most common 'round these parts. and LOTS of us have EE'sAny good laying bread is what I'm looking for. Rhode Island Red is my favorite because of their color and laying ability. I had one in the past but I'm open to explore others if they are better in Texas than other breeds.
