ok wierd Q.....
Do show fowl get medical check-ups? Im in school to be a vet tech and we have worked on chickens so it seems like some people take chickens in to the vet....
I have not seen medical checkups as a requirement for any poultry shows. But if there are obviously ill birds at the show, the judges are supposed to disqualify them and have the birds removed ASAP. And here in TX, the birds are supposed to have a Typhoid-free & Pullorum-free certificate which requires the poultry person from TVMDL to draw blood and have it tested.ok wierd Q.....

Necropsy is what you are thinking about. Narcolepsy is a sleeping disorder. Of course if you have a chicken with narcolepsy, you might want to take it to a vet.I don't and wont, but then again I don't have show fowl, LOL! If I had a bunch of sudden deaths I would pay for a narcolepsy (sp?), but that is about it.
So true. My husband will see chickens and has had some clients ask if he will see their chickens after the clients found out that he has chickens and has brought them in for xrays and such. But then my husband loves to see exotics and such, which most vets just cringe at.Finding a Vet that will see chickens might be the issue. I work for my Vet, 3 Vets in the practice and none of them will see chickens.
