Texas

Yep, DH is in construction, used to be that he could make a living wage, $30k a year profit. Now, they are undercut all the time, $10k is a good year. I hate it because I know most of the labor is just trying to feed their family, but so am I. I just wish Mexico could harness the wealth it has and make it a great place to live. It is worth so much more that it is currently doing. Beautiful landscape, great agriculture, lots of history, awesome architect, the list goes on and on. It should be a cash cow, not sure what the disconnect is.
I've wondered that myself. I mean I wouldn't want to live down there the way it is, but wouldn't it be nice if they got a stable government, turned the economy around and took advantage of the natural recourses they have. Maybe people would want to go there for jobs.

Soooooo sorry for taking us off course! Back to Texas and our chickens! My Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks are starting to lay good. I am so exicted, they look GREAT! They are from Dick Hortsman and from what I understand he has some of the best. I love the Roos, they are so NICE!!! Also, my Ideal Hatchery Speckled Sussex just started laying, pretty excited about that. Still waiting for the Barnevelders to start....

Majority of my girls are layin now! the only ones that arent are my silkie, cochin, duccles, polish, and my yokohama! all my girls are ideal stock and have been layin for aboot a month or so lots! most were from a May 21 hatch and only 3 are from before Easter! the polish is one of the 3! anyone kno how long they take to lay?
my 9mo sumatra started layin this month as did my wyandotte.... i think?

And just so I don't leave any group out, I also have a friend that went KKK and told me we could not be friends because I was not "pure".  Yep, in Austin, a "melting pot".  So I guess people are now in the "show" world and us mutts that just want a strong America are put in the pound....So sad, it really is more divide now...

I am not that old, but the term the "good old days" keeps popping in my head.

On that note, I am not American, I am Texan, we are a breed all of our own :lau :lau :lau   Oops, forgot was not born here, just moved here as quick as I could, really, when I was 8 months old.  Told my parents this is where I wanted to be so let's move!!!  J/K, dad was Air force and Austin used to have a base.
Texan all the way :D and ashamed to call Austin the capital of Texas :barnie

This is the most overlooked thing. And for someone that is insulated from the problem, saying they are putting Americans out of work is a joke. It's not a joke if you're one of them.

Went out and met Dennis today! Really pretty birds he's got! Brought home eggs to put in the bator tonight!

I have lavender Ameraucana eggs. Also some lavender splits bred to a black. These are true and not EE's. I will also hatch some of the same on Christmas day. PM if interested please.

I'm a little closer and I have some young SLW's that are at the POL. There's no cockerel with them yet so it will be a while before I have chicks. I posted pictures of some of them yesterday.
