Texas

I was just at the Tomball TSC earlier picking up pelleted bedding. Saw a bator in a cart at the register but think it was return from someone.  Weekends can turn into feed store marathons have hit 5 feed stores in four counties.

yea theres not a TSC any where near me so i have to go to porter to get my TSC fix!!! i just went there to see if who was cheaper them or my feed store...
and why do they only keep one bator in stock??? both times ive gone in there theyve only had one bator on the shelf.. lol i got both of em!!! if you went there today and were lookin for one im sorry! and thank you for being so polite! thats very rare nowa days!
You should go to Heiden's Feed on Steubner Airline just outside of Hwy 6. THAT is a real, honest to God, feed store. If they don't have it, well, I don't know what to say. They might not have all the latest incubators but if you want a few leg bands, feeders, just any kind of feed or bedding you can possibly think of, including REAL STRAW, they have it.

Pictures or it didn't happen :p

:) i layed welded wire over the top of the pvc and then used furniture wrap to cover it , to provide a wind break and rain protection. I got 4 huge rolls of it from a thrift store for a dollar a roll.It sticks to its self and is fairly hard to tear, and the price was right :) ( its kinda like heavy duty cling wrap)
BRILLIANT!!! Having just moved this year, I can vouch for it's effectiveness. They wrapped everything that had a drawer or a door in it, from filing cabinets to dressers. Filing cabinets are still wrapped up in the garage (ugh). Also wrapped garden tools stuffed in a trash can, wrapped boxes with stuff in them so the stuff wouldn't fall out.

Curious how it holds up outside in the rain, in the sun.

Lol.. I get called the "Crazy Bird lady".. they stopped calling me "Crazy Chicken Lady" when they realized I also have turkeys, quail, pigeons, ducks, geese, emus......

Course after the last shipment of two frozen possums and the 5 frozen boar heads that may change too...

That is awesome!
I started my eight 19-week old pullets on organic feed yesterday. They sure were leery of the new-looking food but then they did take to it pretty heartily once the brave one checked it out. Price is pretty steep though.
Curious, what are you paying for it? I would love to put all my birds on Organic feed, but like you say, it's not cheap.
Lol.. i clean skeletons and skulls as a hobby for use in studying skeletal anatomy and as a basis for artwork (kind of a version of osteology).. Since don't always have access to freshly killed critters.. sometimes I have to get them shipped to me.
You wouldn't want to know what all is in my freezers right now!

and I think my current collection might make you shake your head and wonder if I am completely nuts.... (which I am.. it's one of my best qualities)!

That sounds really interesting! We have a couple coon skins, and I know not what in our freezers! LOL
I spent a good portion of yesterday building a pen to grow out my turkeys that I got in from Ideal. of course they are too small yet to put out there so they are staying in the tub brooder in the house till they get in more (some) feathers. I still have a lot of tiny details to finish on the build but all in all i think it came together pretty good
Well done! Come make me about 14+ of them now????
Congrats!

we used the stuff last year for my girls 4h coop it worked great! kept the rain out and helped keep the heat in ( the turkeys were grown out oct. thru feb ) :) was also strong enough that the turkeys didn't peck through it.

That is awesome!

Can't give you a firm price because I've misplaced the charge ticket. The total bill was about $35 and I bought close to 5# of seed potatoes so I'm going to guess it was right around $30 for a 50# bag. I keep toying with the idea of organic or soy-free or omega plus or whatever. But this is where I am this week. Had hoped that it would be pelletized but it evidently doesn't come that way from Coyote Creek.

That is good to know. Will keep this in mind. Helps that you got the rolls of wrap for $1.
