Yeah - it's the extra heat that has me concerned, given how bloody hot we get down here. I think I'll just stick to cleanouts on Sat mornings. It's become a "ritual" around here and the dogs and hubby wouldn't know what to do with themselves if we broke it. **laughs** Then again, I'm also the insane person who has designed a cooling unit for my coops to try out this summer. Will be interesting to see if it works as expected.

Where did you get your black coppers? I've fallen in love with them and am seriously wanting to get a few. I'd prefer to get them from a Texas breeder, if at all possible.

Sweet on your score of Blue Lace Red Wyandottes. I love my silver laced girls - they are the sweetest things. So far, though, none have beat out my BRs for temperament.

I got my BCM from Ernie Haire in Arp Texas (Pop. 907 YAHOO! anyone remember "Hee Haw"?) he has some nice birds. He has White Marans to die for. Tried to get some eggs but he just sold em.

Does anyone want some little mutt chicks? 6&8 weeks old. Bantam sized when grown. Maybe black sexlink hen....maybe EE mix hen. I'm around San antonio. I think in going to sell 6-8 of them. Maybe $1.50 a piece? I dunno. If anyone is interested let me know. They can be delivered to ft worth area tomorrow with the trailer of cattle headed to the stock show.

Oh, sweet. I'll have to give him a shout. And....907...I think my hometown (Grady, Alabama) is actually bigger than that...of course, it's grown quite a bit in the last couple of years because Montgomery is sprawling toward it

We're still working on finalizing the prototype cooler to fit our coop. I'll be happy to post pictures when we are done with it, if you like. I was complaining that we needed a) more ventilation (Mostly fixed) and b) cooling for the hotter weather. I came up with the idea for the cooling unit and my husband is putting it together. Between the two of us (he's done manufacturing of everything from boats to homes to hog houses to ...well - just about everything; and, I'm a development engineer) we have a pretty good design concept - it's just finding the time to actually get it up and put on the coop. It's going to be glassed and built to mount on our units. He's been kinda swamped getting the units out to people, lately, so the cooler's kinda on hold until he finishes up the last order.

And, if you like what we come up with, I can probably get you the plans ((I'll hijack them from Mike when he's not looking)) or we could probably work out a barter deal if you aren't familiar/comfortable with rigging solar power and glassing. I'm all about the barter system.
