Hi all, I'm new here and am looking for some laying chicks. I live in the Bastrop/Smithville area and would like to have Dominiques. I've checked the mail order places but they require minimum orders and I only have room for 5 at most... at least for this year.

I'd be interested if anyone has Dom chicks they's like to sell. Thanks, Karen

TSC chick days should be starting up soon.. if it hasn't already

I know last year they started the end of February (got meaties for my birthday).. but I think i saw another post over in the chick section where someone said their tractor supply had them already

A chick days is happening at the Georgetown Farm Supply pretty soon, too. If anyone lives close enough to care, besides me :) The "chick lady" there shows her birds and is pretty knowledgeable. Oh, god...they have polish cresteds there, right now...I can't get over how they look like they are running around with 80's hairdos.

they are saying chick days starts February 11.. but most stores won't have them until the 25th.. so looks to be the same as last year.
Texas is slated for the 11th... as to when they will actually have them in stock is anyone's guess..

lol.. I have three polish (1 splash roo.. 1 red hen and 1 buff laced hen) who need to move to their own coop.. their "hairdressers" keep plucking too much off the top.. so their hairdos are looking rough!

one more hatched a day early!!!
and we lost another ideal chick lastnight!
Mine always seem to hatch a day early and it seems like there is a much higher mortality rate with shipped chicks. I have never gotten any shipped to me but have bought plenty at the feed store. I just bought 7 SLW chicks from the feed store that had freshly arrived from Ideal and 2 have died in 2 days.
