That's a roo.. no doubt about it...

Yup. Ironically, each of my set of six seem to have a roo. Though, I could be wrong about Mo. Mo's much more...intermediate. It could be that Mo is just an inquisitive hen who developed their comb and wattles a little faster than the other two. Gonna have to wait for the crow. But, Mo's got that tell tale lighter colour (soft gray as opposed to dark) and much nicer barring. Prob is that while they are BRs, something else snuck in, too - so there is a bit of a hiccup in the genetics. Which means that Mo is my "surprise!" bird. LOL

BTW, that's Mo there in my icon when "s/he" was about three weeks old.

I will be sending healing thoughts your way.

My health has been on the poor side these last couple of months which has made it hard to do anything but get every one fed every day. I'm starting to get my strenghth back though so I can sit up and move around more each day that goes by! I have some horrid neighbors who have been dumping toxic chemicals on my property and after being exposed to them I suffered liver failure. Right now my liver is about 85% destroyed and the side affects of that are incredibly painful and debilitating

I've always had really good luck with feather sexing, and looking at combs
I can vent sex but there have been a lot of times where I don't bother unless it's really bugging me.

My mother had a "hen" that laid eggs for about a year. When her rooster died the hen seemed to go through a sex change.. started crowing.. stopped laying eggs and grew all the rooster characteristics (hackle & saddle feathers and the longer comb and tail). I have no idea if her "confused" bird had both internal organs or just had hormonal issues since she got another rooster soon afterwards. The confused one DID mount hens and go through all the motions of being a rooster.. but I have no idea if any resulting eggs from the hens were fertile or not.

I agree..

It's a shame that there are people like that in this world.. and it's even worse when they do something like that and get away with it.

It's bad enough that they contaminate their own property but to do it to someone else's. There should be plenty of governmental agencies to help deal with this one.

Hi Cindy :hugs :love :love :love
I ended up keeping three precious jewels :hugs :love :love  A handsome Tom - Edie and two lovely ladies - Fritzie Mitzie and Freida :love  Edie just learned how to strut his stuff very handsomely and the other day beautiful Fritzie Mitzie was strutting back and forth along our back fence line and she had a flock of about ten wild tom turkeys all showing off for her :lau :gig :lau :love  My health has been on the poor side these last couple of months which has made it hard to do anything but get every one fed every day. Sorry to hear about your health :( Hopefully you can make a full recovery? The 2 girls we got from you are doing great :yesss:

Power came back on at 7. Almost 4 hours but all the hatching chicks made it. One still to go but it's ok. Hopefully the other eggs die to hatch the next couple of weekends made it.
