Texas

Well, my incubator will be going under "test" in roughly 24 hours....I'm nervous! I sure hope it works as well as we hope it will. I'm not going to worry about finishing up the stain on it, right now. Instead, I'm going to get the lid firmly attached and start the temperature calibration. Oh...I hope it works like I planned for it to.....**goes into engineer panic mode**

So long as you can get the temps stable.. everything else is easy (assuming there are no residual fumes)

No staining done on the interior, so we should be good. I'm hoping the temps will be stable - there's no reason they shouldn't be **crosses fingers** but...I've come to see "should" as the bane of my existence.....

I am not ready to get them yet. I am reading and researching and getting settled in getting stuff done to the house. My fence goes in next week and I will be putting the quail in the fenced area someday. I'm so glad to know you have them and may have them when I'm ready. I want to raise some umbo, easy-going egg layers. I only want to start with half dozen and will need to build a home for them. I've been reading that they need 12-18 inch tall pens. Do they stay in them all the time. I think about chickens pecking around on the ground and the chickens and eggs being healthy because of it. So, if I get it, quail stay in above ground pens all the time? I have a lot to learn. Any advice would be wonderful.

Took a texas road trip today. Ended up in Brady (other side of Llano) looking at some cattle.

Is it bad that I wanted to stop at the TSC there to see what kind of chicks they had!?!?!

I think my husband is worried about next time we have to go

First nite with then new little guys and all is well! All 10 strong and accounted for!

I ended up not going with TSC for mine because all they had were production chickens, and i wanted something different for my first flock. I called up a feed store in houston and they had exactly what i was lookin for!

Needless to say, loaded up dw and the little man and 2 hours later was the proud papa of 3 barrd rock pullets, 3 australorp ( str8 run), 2 americana (str8), and 2 silkie bantams one black and 1 white! Sorry havent got pictures yet but their comin!

That's a nice mix.

The TSC in Tomball had a sign out front 'Chicks for Sale' and a large center-store display with coops, runs and hutches, bators, feeders waterers, feed, grit and shell and, behind livestock panels guarded by a young lady to limit mauling by children, a livestock tub with a large fluffy yellow herd of Cornish Rocks straight run and a couple of ducklings. They also had tubs for Production Reds and Hampshire Reds and one for Pullets all of those were gone.

Wow - sounds like they got a serious run going on selling their chicks.

My TSC was set up the same way. When i looked all that was left was a handful of production red and some cali whites...thats why i went another direction. Im happy with my decision
