ok i am not a hatchin master but .... ok no im not....
i dont like opening and closing the incubator... but i do check weekly some times they move and i can see that when i candle them once i had one straight in the middle of the egg! <*)kinda like that.... that was wierd!
now im still new to the incubation methods and tricks! this is only my well its my 1st set of shipped eggs... had WAY better hatch rate with my own eggs! only 2-3 bad ones a dz for my eggs.... the shipped eggs are well almost 1/2 bolos! kinda upset but i cant complain!

Left this afternoon and when I got home about 4:30, found that the chicken pen had been blown away. The chickens were hiding in their favorite place, behind the air conditioner unit, unhurt but scared. Moved all the debris from in front of the coop so I could entice them in with bread (yayyy for bread). Go into the house and realize the power has been off for two hours. So then I begin to plan for if we're without all night as I heard on my one battery radio that power was out in many locations. Worried about water since I'm on a well, worried about heat, gathered firewood and put it at the back door, got out a dozen candles, got them lit, and voila' at 7:00 the power comes back on. Candles do it every time. But I'll bet it'll be a long time before I get Egg #3 out of those chicks.

I weigh eggs.. I monitor air cells.. and I get 100% hatch rate on my eggs..
Shipped eggs usually run around 80%.. occasionally I have shipped eggs that do worse.. but those are the ones that get lost in the mail (which the postal hub in Austin is famous for).

Right now I have emu eggs from Kansas and some from California.. the Kansas ones all have live chicks in them.. the ones from California haven't done anything yet.. and they were the ones that got lost for several days in Austin.. had one arrive broken and another with a chip out of it..

Another shipment is of 9 dorking eggs.. out of the 9.. 8 are alive and kicking.. 1 is clear

I hear ya! The wind is blowing like crazy right now!! Dogs are freaking out...100 bux says they dig outta the yard and end up under the trailer again...darn dogs...

lol yea the dogs r goin nuts here too!
funny thing i told my wife the other day about the dogs....
the dogs all over the area go nuts all the time... prolly due to pit fights around here...
back at hood our dogs would bark and "talk" to the other dogs in the area... but not here! the only time they bark is when the dobie 4 houses down goes nuts!
i told DW its cuz our dogs dont speak spnish!!! lol they only talk to the english speaking dogs! lol
