Part of it was the guy was a friend of ours who was rapidly getting in over his head
another part of it was I didn't want to see dobermans getting hit once again with the stereotypical "vicious dog" stamp which is so undeserving of all breeds of dogs should he have an episode and maul or even kill someone
another part of it was I knew bad things were going to happen with a dog with mental issues in the hands of a novice.. his friends, neighbors and family would all be at risk
and then legal complications.. would we be liable if we knowingly handed a dog with issues over to a young couple with two very young children and another on the way...
many things went through our minds.. but it boiled down to knowing the dog was a liability.. and someone had to step up and do the "right" thing.
i still tear up when I think of that beautiful dog and what all he had to live through.. and even though I felt like a monster for having him destroyed.. I knew it was what had to be done
