@Kilsharion, Any update pm the faverolle eggs? Just wondering =)

I took my roo and hen with me to work today to have my vet give me advice on trimming my chickens feathers should I ever need too. Also brought them so I could get some help trimming those extra toenails xP I don't want them getting too long. I know they will file down the others, but those two don't hit the ground much. Anyone else trim their chickens toenails?

I am getting 10 baby ducks soon! Anyone interested in some? I want to keep them for a bit till they are bigger since I want to try and at least get two or three females out of it. I want them for eggs. =) The rest of them I might sell or eat later, dunno. They are supposed to not be as greasy as mallards and pekins.

what kind of ducks?

what kind of ducks?
Muscovys, they are black, blue, and brown in color.

Should I keep two ducks and a drake, or three ducks? Or three ducks and a drake? I'm just not sure. I really only want them for eggs and pets. Also, would the drakes try and breed my hens, or is it a wait and see type of thing? If that is the case I will test out a few and see what happens. But if he is mean to my hens he becomes duck dinnah.

I read something on here about removing spurs with a hot potato half and pliers. But I don't know about trimming. Are you using dog clippers? Is it about the same process?

We've used dog clippers to do nails and spurs. You really just take the barest tip off of them because the "quick" comes out a lot farther into the nail/spur than the quick of a dog or cat. I thought I had taken just the tip off on a couple and still they ended up bleeding like stuck pigs. Grabbed some flour and stuck the bleeding part into it for a few minutes to get it to stop bleeding. No illl effects fortunately but I am sure the chickens were thinking "what in the world is wrong with that idiot trying to cut my toes and spurs off?"
