yup.. gro gel will do that

the chicks are cuties!.. you'll have to post more pics as they grow up

I will post updates. I really need to organize all my pictures of all the birds I have so that I can post them up. I have most of them from chick up, I just need to get them organized. Hrm, sounds like I could do that while waiting for DH to get off work today. BTW, since I have these chicks here in the office I have found that the heat from my laptop seems to work just as well as a heat lamp. LOL.

That's my arm at the bottom of the picture. They are sitting on a thrifty nickle to keep accidents off the desk. They wouldn't get quiet until they got warm, so I put them next to the laptop to see if it would work. And surprise surprise happy chicks!

Yeah - tower computers will generate quite a bit of heat, themselves. If you could find a way to ensure the dust from the brooder wouldn't decimate your machines, your office, under the desk with the machines, is one of the best/warmest places to stick them and not have to worry about the heat lamps.

Sadly, heavy dust and computers do not mix.

Speaking of dust - was playing brooder mama upstairs a minute ago ((yes, I should totally be at work, right now)) and monitoring the integration of the eight one day old keets with the rest of the crew (20 week old Dorkings, 3 two week old Polish and four four week old keets)). Everyone is integrating nicely, and one of the keets is actually playing "mama" to the new day olds. They are huddled up under her tiny wings. I was trying to figure out where the "pits" in the litter were coming from ... while I sat and watched, the four week old keets started taking "dust baths". It explains a few things....such as, why the water is getting totally full of litter even though it is four feet up off the floor and why there are huge craters in the litter. I've been pretty fascinated with how well these guys are all getting on, considering they are different types of fowl and such a range of ages. But, they all seem to get on swimmingly.

Especially if you have them on the side where your laptop fan is blowing. They'll get very toasty there.

So cute...but, i swear, that one has eyeliner quite like a Dorking. I can't believe they'd toss a Dorking into a mix bin, though...but - chipmunk stripes with eyeliner...You see what I'm talking about Yinepu? Of course - I'm sure it doesn't have five toes, or you'd have mentioned it...but, the colouring is amazingly similar.

Like these little guys I gave to Yinepu:
