Welcome to BYC and Texas! Chicken raising is always an adventure. They are never boring and always have you learning something new about them.I'm brand new to the whole chicken thing (still in the research stage at the moment). My family is PSCing to Fort Hood next week but we'll actually be living in Temple. I was hoping to find a few people in the area that I could pick their brains about some things and maybe visit their coops and chickens. I'm still working on a coop design that gives the chickies what they will need and look the way I want and I've got quite a few breeds in mind that I want, but not sure if they'll do well together or where to get them locally. Can't wait to be down there and settled so we can start building our coop!!!

I love it. I think my family and friends are at the shut up about your future chickens stage haha. I am passing on the chicken love to my kids. My six year old daughter just looked at pictures of the breed of chickens we are getting and she named them all. Hahaha.
I love them....away from my property. I have two red-tails here that keep me on edge. Aside from my chickens, I have a four pound wonder of a dog that is just temptation defined for hawks. Makes me on edge every time I see them flying around.ive always wanted to become a falconieer!!! (sp?)

I see it, so cute. Beard=mama's wing?I love byc, this a place where I can come talk about my addiction with other addicts. It's a great way to help with all the hard spots and wonderful feelings. A place where I can get my daily (hourly) fix.
It's nice that my dh is an enabler. It seems one of the chicks I got to replace the lost turken has gotten very attached to him. It screeches until he picks it up and holds it. It loves to sleep under his beard. A little hard to see but if you look real close you can see the chick (that almost perfectly matches his beard).
