Texas

oooh.. I do!

we had several.. down to just one now

here are a few of her "baby pics".. I need to take some new ones..

She is gorgeous <3 I am looking for a GSD. DH has one I got him for his birthday, and now after Weiss, I want one. They are such good dogs! Very smart and loyal. How old is she now? She is a pretty girl.
i understand ken! i dont know what its like to lose a child but i know the feeling of a lost brother...
and after i posted that we found 7 more!!!! most in the water dishes... its like it was chickaside day! or what are them things that jump off cliffs? lemmings?!?!? idk now im in a high state of pistivity! not from the kids but the fact that my yard is sprinkled with lil chick bodies!!!
That is horrible.

Kind of scary too. I wonder what has gotten into them?
Well, came home to find my little keet that I was worried about dead in his corner. Poor little fella. He's out in Boot Hill, now. My husband won't let me feed them to the dogs.

But, in good news, all the others look healthy and good to go - and, this is my only loss out of all the chicks and keets and rabbits I've had, so it's not unexpected. I'd almost say I was due a loss, you know?

And, in construction news - the Hotel & Bathhouse (the first building in Landstown) is coming along. Construction should be complete in another couple days. He astounds me with how fast he works...

This is where he got his idea for this building:

Little Wing - I'm very sorry to hear about your loss.
... Can I steal him?
More expensive than hay?.. probably why they don't bother with here locally then.. I know people have a fit every time the cost of grain goes up.. I can imagine what they would say if they were told that straw.. a bed.. for their critter was gonna cost more than it's food!

I can get pretty much any kind of grain I want.. it always amazes me when I ask Dwayne if he can get ____ .. and he says "sure.. how much do you want?"

Lol.. yeah.. i just planted some grass seed the other day.. asked Dwayne for some old hay to use as a cover while it sprouts.. he told me I didn't want that.. I would end up with all kinds of weeds.. my reply "hey.. I'll take what I can get so long as it's GREEN!"
I love to look at something growing.. even if it's a weed.. better than bare dirt that I get to wave goodbye to when we have high winds or a heavy downpour!.. yeah.. I'm not a fan of erosion....
It was like...8 or 10 dollars a bale while the hay we were buying was about 4 or 5. I need some grass too. I can't find hardly anything that will grow out here. I need something that will take minimal water, once it is grown of course, and that will grow in this "dirtcrete"

gonna repeat it here to make it part of the public record

I still say you need for him to build a bordello and stock it with showgirls

Otherwise it just isn't a REAL little western (texas) town!

I really love these birds. They look like q-tips.

I will get some eventually. Hey, might go pick up a silkie roo once my turken hens are old enough. That or just buy some showgirls and silkies together.

BTW: Anyone know if standard silkies have been worked on yet? I would be really interested in that!

she's turning 7 this year

You have to be careful of the shepherds around here.. lots of thin boned dogs.. several bloodlines have food allergies. We had a third hand (or were we his fourth owners?).. male at one point in time.. very expensive dog. The original owners paid close to 2K for him.. but he had such food allergies... he was beyond having gas.. EVERYTHING except "taste of the wild (fish)" would shoot through him like grease through a goose.
it was so bad that even 1 kibble or a tiny bit of other food would cause a chain reaction.. finally the people who sold him to us wanted him back (they got rid of him because of divorce and the wife never wanted to get rid of him).. and even though he was a nice dog.. we were happy to see him go back to her. He was just too touchy to have around with his delicate stomach.. plus they missed each other so much.

The other dog in the first pic was also shepherd.. she also had allergies.. her nic-name became Chupacabra. She was allergic to flea bite.. to pollen.. to grass... to the trees.. to dust.. to well.. almost everything. Most of the time she had no hair.. keeping her on allergy meds ended up destroying her liver over the years. She was a sweet heart.. but very neurotic.. so I think a lot of her issues was just bad breeding (even though her parents were "nice" looking dogs)

Hi there! I thought i would check out the Texas thread. I'm outside of Greenville, in North East Texas. My husband and I have nine layers, sex links and white plymouths, one white plymouth rooster, some meaties, and four (hopefully three soon) Seramas. Which reminds me. Anyone want a beautiful serama rooster with a lovely, clear piercing (did I mention obnoxiously loud?) crow on him?

It's great to meet you guys, and I look forward to getting to know my chickeny neighbors.
Welcome to the Texas Thread, the friendliest Thread on BYC. Ooops, did I just say that?
