Hello everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself as a new chicken owner. I have two barred rocks and two golden comets about 4-5 weeks in age. We're finishing up the coop right now and I can't wait to move them out of the house!
I've learned A LOT since bringing them home. This has been a fun journey so far and I'm really looking forward to the future with these spunky ladies!

Yup. 6-8. And, to Knobby, this hybrid would hate to be let out to free range. They would probably run to their crates just like this. That said, I bring the outside to them, and supplement their diet with lots of treats and grassy stuff. The problem with meaties is that they are so quick from the brooder to the freezer that there isn't a whole lot of time to let them out. And they look all sad and confined right now just because they are still in the brooder.I really want some of my own meat! how long until you can process cornish crosses? 6-8 weeks?
