Hello everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself as a new chicken owner. I have two barred rocks and two golden comets about 4-5 weeks in age. We're finishing up the coop right now and I can't wait to move them out of the house!

I've learned A LOT since bringing them home. This has been a fun journey so far and I'm really looking forward to the future with these spunky ladies!

so bored...sitting here at work alone waiting for quittin time! so been reading up on meaties and think im hooked...already planning how to do this. from what i have read they, for lack of a better term, poop ALOT! would this be benficial if i were to use them as like a garden chicken. i plan on have 2 small gardens and rotating them with a grow out pen so the chickens will till and fertilize my soild between crops. would these types be able to do something like this? was origonally going to do this same concept with some bantams and have broodies/cultivators....but if cornish crosses can do the same job.....


BTW...cornish cross....what are they crossed with or is that just their name? like the iron cross in the southern hemisphere or something, but that actually is a cross....but anyway! yeah!

Cornish Crosses are usually crossed with Plymouth Rocks, that's why you get a "Rock Cornish Game Hen", which usually isn't even a hen, and certainly has nothing to do with shooting sports. And they do poo quite a bit.

Mo was still up on the porch, sitting on Mike's lap - but, the rest have been rather diligent about checking under the leaves for me

I have a video of The Menagerie in the brooder; but, it's taking forever to upload, so

It's something else to see the four week old keets in there with the chicks and 5 day old keets....craziness.

I think it is an IS conspiracy. We get blocked on nearly any web search thing. Not like a whole lot was going on today either. Half our group had taken vacation today anyway and the office was closing early too.

Thought I'd share the ruckus that I get to enjoy in the morning and evening when I feed The Menagerie their FF. One of the larger keets you see in the video plays mama to the chicks and baby keets (you can see one of the tiny keets toward the end of the video). What a crazy group of cheap therapy (pun definitely intended).
