I will. Anyone have any tips on a good digital thermostat? Any pics of your homemade wooden cabinet type incubators would be appreciated also.
You can see my incubator in the photo lists below if you have them enabled. (Here is the link, if you can't see it in my signature box: https://www.backyardchickens.com/g/a/6365983/our-incubator/)
We use the herpstat for our thermostat control and it came out of the box better calibrated than my home thermometer! I also found that the old (and I mean old) mercury thermometer I had left to me by my grandfather was more accurate than any of the digital ones that I had purchased (some at great expense and very high ratings). The mercury thermometer agrees with the herpstat every step of the way.
The herpstat intro is a non-potential or potential thermostat, btw - so if you wanted to use thermaltape and the potential setting for constant temp, you can do that as well. We just used a $20 hair dryer with the non-potential setting. We have a .5° (that's ½ a degree) fluctuation between high (100.0) and low (99.0) with the non-potential. With the potential, the herpstat is even better at maintaining exactly the right temp.
Anyway - I know you were asking about thermometers, not thermostats...but, I had to rave about it. I swear, it's the best purchase I've made in a very, very long time.

That's awesome. I did tell Mike that we are going to have to be sure that the Cat House has a red light. Actually, the Cat House is going to be a work shed for me and will be where the brooder is kept - so it really will have a red light on all the time
