My new hens are trying to roost on top of the fence of the coop! Our neighbors have dogs so it make me nervous they will get out and get hurt. Silly hens. I've clipped one wing yet she still got up there.

. Can you see our chili pepper in the back of the coop on top of the fence? Haha.

Please be careful. My young ones loved roosting on the top of their run (a converted dog kennel). I would go out and lift them down during the night because they tended to wake up and jump down on the outside. Unfortunately, they did it a few too many times and my dogs caught on. I lost a beautiful rooster and two little pullets. Stupid me. I did it again the next year. It's easy to forget how high they can get when they are little and they love to roost on the highest spot they can reach. Maybe you can run some netting or screening from the top of the fence over the coop. That way they can be safe and keep their cool roost.

Morning

We live towards Poteet Tx on Hy 16 South.

Husbands chicks are 1/2 Aussie and the rooster that was in with them till we put the Aussie roosters in. That rooster is black and gold. We are not sure what he is tho. He is really pretty.

Right now all he would have for sale are a few of his Swedish Flower Hen roosters He has too many. They will be a yr old come this summer. They have just started to lay.

3 Pure Aussie Roosters Curly Larry and Mo. And some Yard chicken roosters 1/2 PBR.

He will have hatching eggs later this summer when everyone gets down to laying good. So far the Aussies are the winners re laying. He has 17 hens and when they get going I can pick up to a dozen eggs from them as all are not laying yet. I sell the eggs right now for eating... however business is not great. I ended up Friday boiling 6 dozen of them putting them in a big bucket and mashing them and fed them back to the chickens...

We have eggs in incubator for Swedish Flower Hens quite a few They came from Greenfire Farms , Glynda on the list 2nd batch from her and from Ky... Speckled Sussex's and Basque chickens

He is getting in May from Ideal Russian Orloffs and Speckled Sussexs 12 of each thank the Lord.

The Delaware are just starting to lay as are the Lt Sussexs We don't have alot of either of them tho.

We have a trio of Basque Freddie, Rosie and Esmie.... those are my favorite. They have just started to lay. There are 10 more eggs from Ray in Fl in the incubator now due to hatch out April 11 I believe. I got 6 eggs from him last summer and 4 hatched out we lost 1 hen tho. Hope to get as good a hatch this time around. His Basque's came from Greenfire Farms.

Husband just started this chicken thing of his last summer. He can't keep all these chickens. I have coops and hog panel coops all over the place.
