I know a way to fire one up one handed (don't ask)... but my husband has told me if I ever do it again I'll end up with a boot print on my behind...

I seem to have a husband like that too. Amazing the stuff they get away with, but if we try it....... Good thing we don't live close to each other.

I just butchered my first birds yesterday

. I had never done it before but I watched a ton of Youtube how-to's so I was pretty ready

. The first one went pretty good but by the second I was getting a pattern down and by the time I finished all 6 I was doing pretty good

. My hubby helped me set everything up but he couldn't bring himself to help with the slaughtering or processing so I did it by myself

. Next time I will know what to expect and how to do it just a little different and I think it will go pretty fast. It took me 3 and a half hours to do the 6 birds from start to finish

Impressive! I haven't done that yet but my DW just went to the feed store and I told her to pick up a few meaties if they have them. Gonna give it a shot. Did you use the killing cones or was it off with their heads?

BTW, Kili... the ducks are still laughing at us.. now the geese have joined in (got the first goose egg of the season yesterday)
I know where three duck nests are.. all have at least 4 or 5 eggs in them.. and I have tossed a few duck eggs to the dogs over the past few days

I'm just south of Houston. I've mostly got Easter Eggers. A couple of Marans, one naked neck, and most recently... Cream Legbars! (Yay!) I've also got Bourbon Red and Royal Palm Turkeys, and mixes of those two breeds.

Ah! I got to work for 5 hours and miss so much!!!!!! I'm so excited. Melissa Rose has gotten so much money from me She always has the birds I want, lol!! (Notice, I didn't say need!) I am absolutely in love with my americauna I got from her. Every day I pick her up and carry her around while I check animals. She purrs in my arms! I <3 her!

Now I'm going to look at a SLW, lmao!!!!! Geesh, I'm turning into the crazy chicken lady. Good thing she lives close to me. Wait...thats a bad thing!!!

Well more rain in Seguin right now!!! Hooray!! Hope it's falling at the house also! And yinepu I'm jealous that you are having to cull old layers! Seems like I never can keep one that long between the hawks and my dogs! But the new big coop is almost done! Then we won't have that daily Easter egg hunt!!
