6 more of the EOs than I had planned on... so that's bringing the total up to 237 for next week once the rest get here (unless I get more extras or egg-bombed as a few have threatened to do to me)!
If you get pheasant bombed, you know who would like the eggs

237! What are you going to do with all of them? I was feeling guilty raising 100 chicks this year! You have me beat with one hatch!

being shipped they all won't hatch... but I'm expecting at least a 60% average .. higher on a few of the shipments

we send a lot to the freezer.. some will be caponized.. plus I'll hold back the best for breeding

Not even just from your home to your neighbour's.....Not even room to room. Just by having your own climate control going can mess things up.

I got one of these incubators that are popular with people....I do not like it. I am nagging Mike to make me two more so I can sell the two I had to buy because of going on an egg spree. The temperature is flaky in the purchased incubator, fluctuating by at least a degree depending on if the AC is blowing or not. No, it is not in the direct line of the vent. I know that one degree fluctuation either way isn't a "big deal"...but, it's the fact that it even happens that's annoying me. I've not even bothered to keep the hygrometer in there because - let's face it - my humidity is in flux as well. Well, and I have no water in it, so.... So, screw it. I'll weigh them, keep an eye on them, do my best to keep the temp as steady as possible - and, otherwise just keep nagging Mike to make me a new incubator where I can keep my temperature within .2 degrees of my target without fail and can keep my humidity right where I want it, when I want it with a small twist of a knob.....Generally, it's "off"; but, when I need to bump it, I can. I have screwed up my hatches, me - not my incubator. And, I'm finding I'm more and more prone to preferring my ability to micromanage if I want to. Sad to admit, isn't it?

I do have to admit to liking the automatic egg turner, though....trying to get him to build around those dimensions so I can keep it.

I'm with you on incubators. Only got the Styrofoam one because I wanted to use it as a hatcher and not an incubator but now have turned it into an incubator too. Was happy to find that the auto egg turner they sell at TSC fits inside this one when I decided to use it from day instead of just for hatching.

Building an incubator is on the list of things to do now too. After seeing how this Styrofoam one is built...can't be that difficult to build one. One thing I would like to do is to build one that doesn't use electricity, like the ones that they used eons ago, funneling the heat from an oil/kerosene lamp into it for heat. Would take a while to tweak one like that for best hatching, but figure it would be useful for power outages. And would be fun to try to build even if it didn't work as good as a modern one.

i am getting some silkies that are due to hatch this week. but someone else is incubating them. she recieved wrong eggs in the mail and set them and i told her i would buy what hatches....perhaps that is where the misconception began
