Texas

Argh! Silly birds. Two girls won't stop pooping/sleeping in their nest boxes. I've added more roost, and every night for atleast two weeks I've taken both girls out of the box they are sleeping in, and put them on a roost. Boxes have hay in them, as well as fake eggs Any other suggestions?

Have you tried making curtains for the nest boxes? If that doesn't work, you may have to block off the nest boxes for a bit and then retrain everyone to lay their eggs inside after the two offenders have found other places to roost.

I feel for you. Have a cock that roosts in the nest box so the hens are laying their eggs in the corner under the hanging feeder. And the nest box even has curtains on it. Decided to just let him be for now though, since he is recently blind in one eye after a fight and I think his balance for jumping up on the roosts is a bit off with being half blind.

Hmm. Haven't tried curtains. These two lay in the box together. I just had one start laying and that is the box she choose.

Breeder I know down in San Marcos/Austin area has standard-bred Heritage Mottled Java chicks - 1 day-few months old - available. Which is actually kinda a miracle since they are usually snatched up quickly. She doesn't ship so it would be pickup. Javas are great dual-purpose homestead birds, good foragers, can go broody. My Mottled Java flock came from her and they are terrific. She has had a breeding cock win show ribbons. http://www.farmerinthemartindale.com
