Daycare just called to say that they think my son has Pink-eye...hoo-friggin-ray! Guess im calling it an early day, man i cant wait till DW can take a day off here or there! its a good thing i dont get sick often cause all my sick days go to the lil man!

And I thank you all too for the nice words about my buffs! No one had to swim on Saturday, thank goodness my particular area never floods. No kidding. Guy next door has been there for 60 years and it's never, ever flooded.

Hi Guys! Need some advice! We put 7 eggs under my broody hen on Saturday night. Two eggs have been eaten. She wanted out of the pen this afternoon. I let her out and she had loose loose stools. I believe this is normal, right? I cleaned her behind up and she is not liking me right now. Anyway, how long can she stay off the nest before I should move the eggs? Her comb is a pink color and not bright red (she is an Australorp).

I have 14 eggs in the incubator and I just turned the egg turner on this morning. I put the eggs in on Saturday.

Lisa :)

Took some pictures yesterday and thought I'd share. The boy is a buff O from thedragonlady, most of his "harem" are hatchery birds but the single hen is from her also. And that boy is a love! He is just the sweetest boy ever.

They are quite lovely.

I'm so sorry to hear that he's getting hit with something again. Poor little fella (and poor big fella).

If it's fairly warm outside.. I would give her 20 minutes.. then move them to a bator
If it's pretty chilly where the nest is I would give her some dummy eggs (or marked fresh eggs) and move the eggs to the incubator asap..

It sounds like she's not really settled into the broody role yet
so watch and see if she goes back to the nest.. (I don't remember.. but is this her second time at being a broody?)

Hi Yinepu!

Thanks for answering.

She tried to go broody several times last year and I didn't have any eggs, so I kept picking her up and moving her outdoors. Technically she has been 'setting' for a week and a half. I had her setting on 4 unfertilized eggs until my eggs arrived. I picked her up and put her back on the nest. She is acting weird and smells horrible. She doesn't want the other girls around her at all. I was feeding them bits of an apple and she would eat it from my hand, but if one of the girls was nearby, she wouldn't take it.

The temperature here is 86 degrees.
