Have seen a few of these around. Anyone know what they are and if they are cause for worry? Have seen them around the house...they arent bothering the chickens

I wouldnt mind a few of each. Dorkings seem like fun!the silkie or silver grey dorkings.. or which of the others?.. I have more eggs coming for both the silkies (supposed to be show quality) as well as a bunch of sg dorking eggs (very nice birds from what I have seen of the parent flock)![]()
Love the coup! My adults still sleep all over the place! Sometimes i see them on the roosts, i see nestle spots in thier shavings, and they sometimes sleep on the dresser nests i have in there...but eggs are always in the right place so i figure why not? Was playing with my BO chicks last nite and they musta just hit a major growth spurt! They are getting this massive tuft of feathers just above their tail so it kinda looks like they hve 2 tails! Is this a BO thing or is it just a funny way of feathering in. Will try to remember to get a pic this eveningWell, we went and bought pine shavings for inside the coop. The girls FREAKED. They didn't know what it was and flew right back out of the coop the first time they went in from the run. Added some girlie touches with the cloth strips too. Question, only two of the girls slept on the roosting pole. All the rest of the girls slept in the shavings. Why won't they be big girls!?![]()

I love Quality Feed! Their chicks were still under lights though and I am trying to avoid that for now since I'm just starting out. Give me a year or two and I'll probably own a bator and be hatching chicks on my dining room table. If my husband won't divorce me over it. He's been a champ about all this so far and even said he'd drive to Austin for a chicken meetup with me, but he thinks I'm crazy.Quality feed in the heights in houston (45 and N. main) had sexed salmon favorelles chicks for sale last time i stopped by
Well the little girl did not make itshe was dead when I got home. My DD and I will bury her tonight, not my norm but DD wants to do it. I was torn on how far to go, did not want to save her now only to lose her once I was attached, seems to happen with the "failure to thrive" babies.![]()
The others are all doing GREAT, that leaves me with 8, which is a good number to add to my flock. Still sad but I know it is just the way the chicken world is.
I also have some Serama and Silkie eggs in the bator. Hope I get some out of those.

I'll probably have extra of the dorkings.. euskal oiloas.. silkies.. ancona ducks.. not sure what else yet.. i had 10 EOs hatch last night.. still a bunch more pipped .. not counting the next batch of eggs plus the older chicks I had hatch out a few weeks ago.. so I'm looking at about 40 of those guys!
the dorkings will probably be silver greys since I have a bunch of them that have hatched plus a nice batch of eggs inbound... unless you don't mind a few of the odd colored ones from the crele project.. they have 5 toes but aren't the expected colors yet.. ( lol.. I do have a few that look to be almost crele colored in the latest batch..)
