They all were firtle but failed to peep.... cracked open all of the failures... all but 1 was fully developed!

There could be a few reasons for that

first of all... were the yokohamas the last eggs you incubated?
If so.. it would be a bacterial issue with the incubator.. earlier hatches hatched out ok because the incubator was more sterile.. as you hatch out more batches of eggs bacteria grows until it is at the point where it will kill chicks within the last few days before hatch
The remedy for that is to disinfect the bator ..oxine or a 10% bleach solution will kill off the worst of the bacteria.. just make sure you clean the fan blades and every nook and cranny you can get to. Partial cleaning only breeds resistant strains of bacteria

If you have hatched out other batches of eggs AFTER the failed yokohama hatches and had good hatch rates then you have to look at the birds diet.. if all the birds are on the same food and have good egg production (you may have to increase the protein for the yokohamas) then look at the genetics of the birds.. it could be something as simple as a bit of inbreeding which is causing late death in the hatching eggs

if that isn't the cause then you have to consider disease in the breeder birds

Morning all. (this isn't really chicken related)
So, last Tuesday I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. They don't know what really causes Bell's Palsy, but people who have had flu/pneumonia/under a lot of stress tend to get it more easily than those who haven't. Well, I've had the flu earlier this year, pneumonia twice and just recovered from the last bout of it two weeks ago, and now Bell's Palsy. It's where one side of the face is temporarily paralyzed due to the nerve being inflamed or restricted. The pain is so horrible and the doctors don't know when it will heal. I have to be patient. They have me on steroids, but I've already been on steroids 4 times this year from the previous ailments so I've gained so much weight from those things! Anyhow, I'm supposed to keep myself "de-stressed" as it helps the inflammation go down in the nerve receptors. But, how does that happen when you're in constant pain and can barely, eat, drink, and cannot blink? Even through it all, I have The Lord, my dear husband, my sweet daughter, my friends, and my chicken children! Going and sitting on one of the tree stumps in the run is so relaxing feeding the girls and snuggling with the few who like to snuggle. Anyhow, prayers are appreciated. Patience is a virtue!
Just wanted to say that there was an article on the AOL home page about Bell's Palsy being a symptom of Lyme Disease and that you need to be checked to see if you have it and get on antibiotics, hope this helps and you get better.

alright everyone, need some basic advice. I am about to start mixing my own feed, not trying to get into FF yet...but want to make a kind of all-flock for my chickens and i need a starting point. I understand that i will almost constantly be supplementing one thing or another depending on time a year and what not. But as a basic bare-bones style mix that will feed a flock of layers, pullets right around POL, roos, and younger guys as well.

i was thinking of starting with some layer pellets, cracked corn, some 18% crumble and then maybe some BOSS. am i leaving anything majorly important out? i will also have oystershell available 24/7 free choice.

sounds good! I mix my feed in a big 40gal storage container and mix 50# layer and 50# scratch and 10-20# game feed for my flock...

Just a reminder - we have both Californians and mini rexes for sale. Need to lighten our feed bill. These are retired show rabbits still of age to produce or youngens that arent show quality. In New braunfels. :)
