We have battled fleas too, with our dogs anyway. They have a new medication for dogs called comfortis. It is a pill that you give your dogs once a month. It works wonders!!! Within a few hours you notice the fleas are less. You have to get it at the vets office. But so worth it!! I'm not sure what to do with them on chickens but at least it helps in the yard a little too when it's given to the dogs.

Comfortis has been out for several years now. We used to use it on our dogs until they had a nasty reaction from it!

Super Blue Egg Layer - its amix of two breeds, leghorn and ee? I think? I don't remeber lol

Close! I believe his are leghorn oullet and his lavendar ameracauna roo. Ee will lay green eggs so you use true blues, cross with the heavy white layer, then go back to the blues to keep the color!

I gave Yin a call. She has SBEL eggs on order! She said they are "Leghorn crossed with Crested Cream Legbar". She said her Lavender (I made an oops and called them purple) egg project is stalled for the moment. The older hens stopped laying with the heat and the youngest aren't laying yet.
Has anyone seen English Orpingtons? She's starting on them too! I looked them up and OMG they are so FLUFFY!

I need to get an incubator STAT! There are so many pretty chickens out there!

Okay, not chicken related (well kind of), but I am proud of this. I am trying to figure out ways to cut down on food cost while increasing "convenience" last weekend HEB had bone in, skin on chicken breast for $1/lb, so I bought about 12 lbs. Cooked all that up on Sunday, stripped the meat off, bagged it up in smaller portions, so I can just grab add taco seasoning or BBQ sauce, throw and a tortilla and good to go.

I kept all the bones and all the trimmings from pre-prepping my veggies (did not matter what kind). Froze it all, then today pulled it all out and made home made chicken stock. It is to die for!!!! I am freezing it in ice trays then going to dump them all in a bag so I can just grab what I need. So simple, yet so effective!
