Does anyone have any trouble with their chickens eating the bright red mountain laurel seeds? Are they also poisonous to birds?

My chickens have just started rooting around the base of some mountain laurels and I'm worried.

Does anyone have any experience with Coops By Ty? I'm going to check out his stuff next week, south of Dallas, but I wanted to see if anyone has had one of his coops for a while and what your thoughts are. He seems pretty reasonably priced and he'll build to suit.

how far are you from Houston? DW has wanted some seramas for a while now! what size/color are they?

I am 5 hours from Houston...I don't know any weights of my birds, but I believe they are going to be on the larger end of the spectrum, trying to find a scale to weight them asap. I have all different color birds, but I am trying to stay in the range of earthtones, I just like that look the best with lacing.

I know they are poisonous but not sure if for birds. They seem awful big and hard for a chicken to want to eat....

If you take a mountain laurel seed and rub it against concrete it will burn you like fire because it gets so hot! Tricks kids like to play...
