Make no mistake, I've been clonked in the head by a horse too. And stepped on, and fallen on, and you name it. I even shoed horses for around 8 years and oddly enough, never got for real kicked. I mean kicked so that it connected well.
I really think that most times horses intend to miss. I've only dealt with one dangerous horse, a gelding, who when walking the shed row would reach up with every stride trying to get you. He should have been euthanized. I hope someone did instead of passing him off.
