That is awesome! I took pharmacology, but as a chemistry major, and DH took it as a medic. Not an easy class by any means! Congrats!!

Home school is the way to go these days. It is getting crazy out there. My niece took her kids out of Midland ISd a couple years ago. You will not believe why! She got a call from the principle asking to come to school. When she got there, she was told that her 8 year old daughter was suspended from school for a week for resisting the romantic advances of a boy. But the truth is that it was not a boy. It was a girl with two lesbian moms that had convinced her that she was a boy. The school district threatened my niece with legal action against her if her daughter continued to reject this girls advances. I AM NOT KIDDING!

I home schooled my kids. My daughter is in her third year of med school at UTMB Galveston. Guess I did not do too bad of a job.

I know, but I just don't know if I am patient enough. I will look into it for next year as a possibility.
Mandy, you would be a great teacher! Granted homeschooling is not for everyone. You have to be prepared to be with them 24/7/365. Every moment is a teaching moment.

That is beyond insane. I have personally known lesbians raising kids and none of them would EVER do such a thing to their children. Even had it been a boy though, to be suspended for rejecting romantic advances? Ever? Especially at age EIGHT? That is SCARY.

I'm totally not saying I don't believe you because crazy things happen, but I just cannot fathom them suspending your niece for not responding to someone else's romantic advances - especially as a, what, 2nd grader - regardless of the gender of the kids involved.

Unless by saying she "rejected her advances" you really mean that your niece decked this other girl/boy. THEN I can see the school suspending her for fighting... If no fighting occured, then that school must be run by a blithering idiot. Actions like this just scream out an invitation for a lawsuit, or at least some very bad press.

That type of **** is exactly why I'm so glad I live in a town of less then 300 people. The school is the same building pre k through 12th grade with an average class size of 7! 1 teacher per grade that double as bus drivers... Everyone knows everyone!!!

Agreed! When we lived in the metroplex, we were in one of the absolute best school districts - but those schools are just too big IMO. When it got time for our kids to start kindergarten, we moved back to my husband's hometown. Super small community (though not quite as small as yours) where everyone knows everyone else. And this is another reason I encouraged my DH to become a teacher. He's a great teacher since he has this gift of being able to engage kids without then realizing they are learning. But mostly I just wanted his presence there everyday so that my kids know from early on that they can't get away with anything!! Any problems and he is pretty much already on the scene. It's the next best thing to home schooling.

Congrats! I know from experience that those hard earned Bs can mean more than the easiest A. Way to go!
