Texas

I've been blowing out eggs lately for fall decorations, but Dad realized, "Wow Laura, you sure do sink a lot of time painting these delicate eggs for no reason other than to place them in that basket where they can't be seen. Why don't you sell them at the local market? My friend has a stand he can sell them at!"

My Dad isn't that wordy, nor that enthusiastic, but I think he's trying to make me use my time more wisely. So all my spare time is now spent painting eggs free hand. This is the first time I've painted something with such small details, so it's a bit rough. Any opinions would be great!

Just be gentle, okay? H-ha....

it's beautiful

Very nice! Wow, that had to take some time, a steady hand and patience! You have talent Miss L.

If I were to be critical about anything, I would say to modify the design just a bit so you have fewer cross supports...maybe take out the horizontal one running through the center?

You should, for sure, try to sell them, even on Etsy. You can do some for each holiday, maybe find a way to attach a hanger so people could use them for those wire ornament trees?? There are lots of possibilities!

There was something on BYC a few years ago where a lady used polymer clay stalks, sliced them and molded them around the egg. Those were nice, too.

If you are interested, I'll try to find it if you haven't seen it.

You have real talent! Awesome!

I don't have the patience or talent for painting eggs. Yinepu paints and carves eggs. She has some posted on one of the decorated egg threads in the hobby section. She has offered to show me how she does them (especially her carved eggs). But I am talentless!

You are right, it has been a beautiful Texas day! This isn't chicken related, but I want to share...I am an animal lover. I always have been. I would have every stray animal that I could, but with the "help" of my husband, I don't. There came a chance to foster a pregnant dog that was going to be put down, and I just couldn't let that happen. The dog has been sponsored by a rescue and I am her new mommy until she has the babies and they get old enough to adopt. I understand that things happen and sometimes pets suffer...but who would/could do this? I used to hate it when my step-dad would get mad at my puppy and take it off somewhere.

Today, I started an adventure that I hope all ends well. Sassy (the dog) is a very well behaved adult standard dachshund. She is about to pop any second now. We bought her a crate for her to have her babies in for protection and to keep my nosey dogs away from them. She came in the house, and has just fit in with my family and dogs. We thought we were going to have a little trouble getting her in the crate, I said "Sassy, in the crate", and she went right in. I am not sure if she was given up because she was pregnant (her terrier friend was also surrendered) but she is a great dog. I am so afraid I will get attached to her and not be able to let her go...but I know that at least I am helping her by not letting her be put down because no one wanted her.

Thanks for letting me ramble on here...I will post a pic next. They are all on my phone.
