Texas

I am so sorry. How bad was it? Never had problems with raccoons myself. Hawks and owls are my problem. But I can tell you how to catch them if you need advice. If you were close to me, I have a couple really sweet Cubalayas I would give you to ease your pain.

I am so sorry Heidisgran.

Heidi may be in central TX. The coon problem got really worse this year. Maybe 4-5 times worse than previous years. This may be a result of the drought, and the over heat/fire occurred 2 yrs ago.

My partner just informed me he lost 5 birds last night. The coons get smarter and don't go for the tuna in the trap any more. Finally I woke up and placed order for 6 NiteGuards. These will come next week and I can't wait to see if the problem goes away in 1-2 weeks.

Howdy from Arlington!
I'm inside the city limits. But so far with 2 hens.
I can get two more. But never realized there was so many different chickens out there.

Welcome! It looks like you are in the beginning stages of Chickenitis (also called "Chicken Math"). Chickenitis is a disease that causes you to uncontrollably buy every new type of chicken breed you find out about. You have stumbled upon the Texas Chickenitis support group. We are here to help you and keep you from getting out of control. It is difficult to cure chickenitis, but with time and therapy you will be able to control yourself, just like I did. Now if you will excuse me, I need to run down to the feed store to buy some Brown Speckled Sussex chicks they just got in!

I let two mommas sit this year...all their babies, even though they were ready for the adult coop, still went to bed in the "nursery" so all of them except the little roo that went to live across the street!!! between my broken heart and tears I have extreme anger and I'm going to kill for the first time in my life!! NO raccoons allowed!!

You get that raccoon and do whatever it takes!

I lost my little silver laced wyandotte to the foster dog yesterday. I was so excited that she actually left her pups to go outside, I completely forgot that I had just let my girls out of their coop. Grr...it was my fault too. I felt so bad.

However, I did see that someone had a light brahma roo!!! I just might be interested in that! I am in the east dallas area also, more specifically Rockwall/Nevada/Wylie area.
