Texas

Thanks! They are mostly... The hens are in the nextdoor neighbors yard and since . Promised her a flock I think they will be the beginning. I got them free and so.did.she!
As for the parasite issue,I talked to my doc about examining some cubalaya I'm getting shipped and he told me to run any and all tests I want and report back to him for treatment if needed! AWESOME! They are getting decals done and blood work too! Anyone know if I need to use the loop for a chicken or just bag it?

Oh and they.we're mostly covered in mites! Got them all sprayed down though... Once a week good for a.bad infestation or should I do it more than that?

Fecals for chickens I would bag or get a fecal tube/specimen tube, and pick it up fresh. I don't know that's your get enough, and I think it would stress out the chicken, with a fecal loop.

As for mites, depends on what you used. My protocol with sevin dust is every 7-10 days for two treatments. And then I use ivermectin too, two treatments 7-10 days apart.

Here is a funny video I think only us chicken farmers will get.

Good Morning Fellow Texans!

The bottom of my rain gauge had water covering it. That was the rain we received overnight. I will take any amount I can get at this point!!

Have a great day!

Lisa :)

Jungle - That was a funny video!

Heidi's G - I'm glad you got at least one of your predators.

Lisa - Good morning! ...every little bit of rain helps. We only received about 1.5 but others around us received quite a bit more. Our soil is pretty damp, though.

We worked outside all day yesterday, mowing, cutting down dead trees (hard work!), planting a few fall flowers and cleaning the Morning Glory's off the deck...I like the Morning Glory's but I thought the refi appraiser might not have the opinion. The weather was BEAUTIFUL yesterday afternoon, here. Today, I need to spruce up the inside of the house and wait for the guy to show up at noon.

Since we were outside all day we let the 8 week olds run around the chicken yard all day...that was a treat for them because they usually only get about an hour a day.

Do you all notice that each of your flocks have their own group personality? My newest little buggers are so friendly and are great little foragers.

I'm in Burleson...don't know how far that is but I have some month old buff laced brahmas if you want to try again

I think I might wait until the spring. Let the three that I have left earn their keep a little while. Although Red, has been slacking. She has not laid an egg in almost a week. Not sure what is up with her.
