It was already 48 this morning at 6:00.

I'm glad I bought more corn and suet bricks for the chickens! What I hate is that I need to fill the waterers when I get home....brrrrr!!

It's a brick made with fat and seeds for birds.


It is cold here and very windy! The temp has already dropped some since I got up too. Rain or should I saw freezing rain will be moving in tonight. YUCK!

I got my paint samples and dog food already today. I have a fist full of samples to go through. I think I have a brick from the house out in the yard that I can bring in, but that would involve me going out to find it in the edging for the herb/flower garden bed. I I think I can wait on that.

what is suet brick?

I buy the "energy" suet, made for wild birds, and I put it in a wire holder and hang it in the coop. The extra fat helps give them more calories to stay warm. Tractor supply, walmart or even Lowes carries it. Here is a sample of what the suet looks like and the holder.

Wow, this is new to me.

In 2 more weeks I will be in Vietnam. Due to the day/night time difference, I may drop dead sleepy in middle of the day. If my wife complains, then I will ask her to get me some Suet.

It lasts for days, too. It's a cheap way of giving them extra calories.


You can also make it homemade using lard and scratch grain.

Ran out to do some shopping and get stuff for gift baskets. I got it all done and am now waiting my turn for a massage. What an amazing day.

We'll this has been such an interesting day with the death of Mandela and the plunging temps...things like drastic temp changes cause 3rd graders to get whacked out. Ugh! I wonder if playing on Thursday night will help the texans win. I'm not going to hold my breath. On another note, my hens I got Sat (2 Americaunas and a black australorp) are getting along famously and are such fun to watch. Lucy, the original leg horn, got herself over the fence into my neighbors yard. I just had to laugh. She really wanted back over but I guess she forgot she could fly. I ended up taking a plank off the fence to let her prissy self back through.
