I have been busy today! When I got up this morning I wrote letters to my soldiers and got them in the mail. Then I cleaned the living room and kitchen before heading outside. I spent 4.5-5 hours outside (don't eat breakfast, no lunch) working in the yard. I got my raised bed in and looking nice. Just need dirt and new bed in front of it to hide the ugly cinderblocks. Plants too, but not much in stock at the nurseries right now. Then I tackled the bed on the side of the garage. The dirt was up too high on the siding and the edging (rocks) was all wonky from that was done yesterday. All fixed now. Bed looks much better. Garage still looks horrible. After that I worked on the other side of the garage and transplanted my fennel there. I also transplanted 2 lavender bushes and some lemon thyme that was taking over the herb garden. It now has a bed it can spread as much as it wants to in. After that I turned the garden soil over. I found 2 HUGE worms! All those leaves in there are doing some good. My storm debris wasn't picked up ( the guy didn't pick up anyones on my block ) so I decided to move it and bundle tie all of it. I thought we didn't have to bundle the storm debris... I also had a guy out to look at my poor garage roof. It is in really bad shape and I can't let it go any longer. RATS! When I came in I got back to cleaning. Had supper then finished cleaning. Just a couple loads of laundry left to do. My back is sore. I hope it feels better tomorrow.

My back isn't sore today. My hips are a bit sore from all the squatting I did yesterday. I really feel pretty good though.

Man is it cold outside!! That wind is horrible. I'm really glad I am not living in Minnesota anymore! I need to get and get cat food but I think they have enough that I can wait until tomorrow. Getting out for church was enough for me today.

You really need to rinse it more often.  All kinds of pathogens grow in it.  I soak for 12 to 24 hours, depending on the seed, but change the water a few times.  Then, I just rinse it thoroughly several times a day.  That cloudy stuff is bacteria and fungi.  I keep my sprouts beside my sink in a metal mesh strainer over a big stainless steel bowl (to collect the drips). 

I think Hung might have misunderstood hensfortherapy's post. What I read was that she soaked for a day and has been rinsing 2x/day and was on day 4 of sprouting.

The girls loved the sprouted oats. I gave the 7 of them about 2 cups.

I have already started more soaking so I will have more sprouting in a cycle.

Glad they like them!! I was so disappointed the first time I tried sprouting when my girls were young and they weren't interested in them. Our cows wouldn't even eat them. Ended up in the compost. Now that they're older, they LOVE them. So happy that yours do too. I have several batches going as well.

My girl's are so spoiled.If I take them some mediocre leftover they make this funny noise that sounds like they are disappointed.

If they're anything like mine, they ARE disappointed. LOL!

If mine could talk, I'm sure they'd be saying "Excuse me? Where's the good stuff?" They will actually walk away from me if I don't bring them something they like. VERY spoiled.

Hi Texans! I went to the show in College Station yesterday and fell in love with the black silkies. I've never been a big fan of silkies before but seeing so many pretty ones in mass gave me a bad case of the "I wants."

Does anyone know of someone in the Houston area who breeds nice black or blue silkies and might have one for sale? I will drive a couple of hours to pick up a quality bird. I don't do chicks or eggs because I can't have a rooster. I'm just looking for a sweet and pretty pet who might be a buddy for my faverolles and don't want to wait until spring.

What a fall and winter it has been. What predator leaves nothing but the head? There isn't even a bunch of feathers left behind. I've never had a predator problem while living at this home. So far I have had losses to a two legged predator and now a critter.

Sounds like you need to get a motion activated camera.
