Congrats! You will remember this for the rest of your life! You will probably:
-Lose a lot of sleep from constantly wanting to check on them.
-Panic for no reason when the incubator temporarily gains a few degrees from the element coming on every now and then.
-Worry about the eggs constantly when you're not at the house.
-Find it impossible to do ANYTHING other than stare through that tiny window in the incubator for hours and hours when those pips start to happen.
-Be ridiculously proud and joyful to the point of tears when the little ones stumble out of the egg for the first time.
-Realize that even though you're exhausted and wondering where the hell the last 20 something days went, it was totally worth it.
-Look forward to doing it again, and again, and again.
At least, that's how I was![]()

I could not have said it better myself. The sad or not so sad part is, it never changes!!!!! The worry, stress, joy and sadness happen each time over and over. I wish you the best of luckJust remember the worst thing you can do is open the bater, once they start to hatch just LEAVE it be.![]()
The red comb made me guess ... a rooster. Glad you enjoy this baby chick ... more fun is coming.
Thanks bnjrob. I have no idea what they need/don't need. I was young when we had chickens as a kid so don't remember if they needed any or not.No. I am breeding hardy dual-purpose homestead birds that need to be able to stay alive without using vaccines.

Lisa... wake up, its 5am already.... go feed your skunk. I took your idea and search craiglist in Austin to look for free puppy, not yet found any that suits my need but it was fun to see so many choices
