I love the evening treats time.![]()
This is Blonde and Brownie seeing who is going to go into the coop first. Blonde doesn't even sleep in that coop. It's a pecking order ritual for those two.
I was standing in the yard talking to the girls when they all raised up in attention. I had come out to make sure they all got in the coop with a predator in the area. Then I realized I was not armed and I really don't know what it was. I really need to trap and relocate whatever it is. I can't kill it. Then I need to get an Anatolian Sheperd.
Bunnies are sweet. I worked for a photographer once who would take Easter pics at preschools with chicks or bunnies. My job...herd the bunnies and chicks back into the frame. I fell in love with one of the bunnies and she came home with me when the photos were done. I found out big bunnies are not as friendly as when they are babies.
I may have to try Silver Campine some day. First I want a real Gold Lace Wyandotte.
I'm so sorry you are having predictor troubles. I can't imagine-I don't even close up my coop at night. They go in when they want and come out to squawk at the back door. Gotta keep my fingers crossed but so far neither man or beast has discovered my treasures!!
haha... you might have to try them out sometime. Afterall, I only live a few miles away from Liberty Hill!
For wyandottes check with Lazy A Ranch at http://lazyaranchwyandottes.weebly.com/ or Ruth Caron at wyandottesandrocks.com
Ruth is in Martindale and Lazy A in Iola. Im sure theres plenty others but those come to my mind when I hear wyandotte
Good luck! -Preston
If you are going to get some from a breeder, you'll want to contact them ASAP. I know Ruth Caron's birds often go quickly and people get on waiting lists for breeder birds. The early bird really does get the worm if you want birds from a breeder because those of us that breed to the SOP usually do not do breed year round like the hatcheries do.Thanks I will check for Wyandottes in the spring. Where do you get your birds? Ever try Callahan's in Southeast Austin?

bnjrob is right... at least contact the breeder to let them know youre interested if thats what u want. My campines are from Cathy Gleasonnin Dallas and dAnvers from Dan Dykes in Brehnam.
Callahans is hit and miss for birds. They order chicks from hatcheries and can tell u their inventory if u call. For grown birds, they have red sex links and birds people take there to trade or get rid of. My first birds were from there in fact. Last summer someone took some nice bantam wyandottes up there...like i said, its hit and miss
