A few Pictures from the snow!
The bad thing about those shows are that you have to pay for admission to the full event, not just the poultry shows. We prefer to go to the fair during the week when it is not so crowded, but after already paying out the nose to get into that, not to mention paying for parking, the idea of having to pay parking and fair admission all over again for the poultry show on a busy weekend is not that appealing. Not to mention the horrid parking and crowd conditions. Would much prefer to go to a show not affiliated with big events like that. And the fair grounds are in a part of town that you feel like you have to be armed in order to come out alive.
the top pic is a small portion of the flock with a silver campine in the front, as well as the cockerel in back. campines are one of my main breeds and I have both silvers and golds. There is also my blue amraucana, rir, and barred in rock in the group.
the bottom pic is of my quail dAnver hen peanut. She won Junior Champ at Bluebonnet Classic 2013... really like that breed.
I am hoping to get some more show bantams this year!
I agree, wild animals have a right to live. Can you make your coop predator proof? If I remember correctly from your original post, you were not 100% sure your little chicken made it in the coop that night because you didn't do count? Maybe I'm mistaken. If you do trap the raccoon, you can't relocate it, you will have to kill it or have it killed. Good luck with your decision, and I'm sorry about the loss of your bird.I am pretty sure it is a raccoon. It must have gotten thrown off it's schedule cause raccoons are usually back in bed before 6:30 am or sunrise. I am checking on live traps. My luck I'll catch a chicken. I just don't think I could kill a raccoon. I wanted to when I found Scrambled's headless body. Neighbors shoot pest animals all the time in our sub division. I just feel the wild animals have a right to live.
Wow, it is amazing how attached you can get to a chicken.
This whole bunny thing started when I went to get my girls annual Easter pic with bunnies done and we just happened to be the last ones. Came home with two. That was about 10 yrs ago. Have had bunnies ever since!

My coops are predator proof. The automatic door may be set a little too early. I will change it or keep going out to check that no hungry coons are hanging around in the morning when it opens.
