Texas

Is there any place in the NE sector of Texas where I can buy just a few (3) Silkies or Mille fleurs? I have ordered chicks for eggs - red sex links but my grand kids want to have a chicken of their own and these are what they chose.

Brookshire11 is getting some silkies this weekend from someone not to far from McKinney.

The area I have decided to put the coop and run is shaded in the morning by trees and the afternoon by my garage.  When the redbud tree gets bigger it will shade the area all day long.  Right now it is mostly dirt.  Planting grass seed in the spring....  I was planning on landscaping the area with chicken safe plants too.

It is so tempting to get 3 little silkies right now.  I could use the diversion from my life too.  It's just not in the budget right now though.  I have to wait.  Maybe I can get some late summer.....

I know..im not helping. Lol
im sorry. It'll be before you know it though!

Im picking one up in Princeton! She had a friend ask to join orders, friend backed out afterwards, and this lady got stuck with 60 babies! Lol
They're not show quality, but that's not my purpose.

I thought I'd post a pic of the new pots I got for Mama.

1000

They were such a steal! One was $8 and the other was $5 because it was missing two of the terracotta flowers. I'm thinking of just buying the terracotta clay and making the flowers myself. They are to display in our doorway, so if the flowers aren't fit in perfectly, it won't matter.

What matters is that Mom was very surprised and pleased. I wish I had had more time to get the dirt, but I can do that tomorrow. She wants to find the perfect flowers for the pots and that may take.a couple days.

Does anyone else have a problem with wild birds eating the chicken feed? Last year I counted 17, now (and I'm not exaggerating) I counted at least 37, its the little Grey brownish one that have orange on there wings, I guess they are finches? And they aren't afraid of me, they perch just 2 feet above my head in the trees right next to the coops! :barnie

Yes. They clean up after the girls. Not much I can do about it.
