Does your current set up use the 2 sq ft and 8 sq ft per chicken right now? Do they seem to be content with that amount of space? We have plenty of room right now but as the chicks grow that we have, I'm afraid things might get a little snug while we decide who to keep and who to sell. They will be layers, not extremely heavy breeds with hopefully a few bantams in the mix if I can convince my husband they are worth keeping.

I'm trying to make a temporary area to keep the majority of the ones we won't be keeping, a few extra roosters that we will process and I feel like I'm 'over thinking' how much space they are all going to need to get to about 16-20 weeks. If we keep the 60 we have (plus we have more coming next week...eeekkk!) we are looking at 240 sq ft for a coop and 600 for a run @ the 4/10 break down. I feel like that's a lot of space for a temporary situation. I guess we really need to sell off a few chicks now but after we sold the extras last year, we had SO MANY losses due to predators that I don't want to end up with just a few pullets/hens again.
