I need to paint the exterior of the walls and Mama Nature isn't coop-erating. So no updates. I may be able to get coat on tomorrow after work. and second coat on Thursday. Then we are supposed to have more rain....ALL WEEKEND!!!!

I will take your rain. We have had very little here and yet we had ice this morning.

So, these cold fronts keep coming through down here and with it high winds.  Two days ago it got real muggy and gusts of 30+mph.  Well long story short the gusts knocked over a pallet fence that I had built and trapped two of my hens under it.  Unfortunately, I did not see this and it was at least 3 hours later that I came across the fallen pallet.  So, I lost two hens.
That same day a co-worker of my wife asked if we could keep a chick.  Her young son has not been a good week for chickens went to a birthday party and apparently the hosts gave out week old chicks to the children.  Had to set up the brooder for this little one.

Well this has been a horrible week for chickens. I'm sorry about your hens! I know you feel horrible, but kinda exciting about the new little one! I've heard that this is a trend in bday party favors-giving chicks away. How stupid can some people be?

Have any of you checked out the "Baby Chick Pictures" thread.
They are soooo cute. Soooo darn cute. I can imagine the effect it is having on chicken math.

:) check it out.
