Called HFC. They haven't received any chicks yet, and are wondering where they are.

82nd street Tractor Supply has white leghorns, dark Cornish, red pullets , mixed pullets, and ducks.

I-27 has red and mixed pullets, Egyptian Fayomis, silver Phoenix, assorted bantys, white leghorns, and ducks.
Still looking for someone willing to go in on chicks. I don't want six of the same breed.

You don't have to get all 6 of the same breed, just 6 chicks.

Oh they are so cute! Glad you so far away or all my work and plans that I did this morning would all be for naught. There is the factor of waiting for my heat plate to come to consider as well.

We are all so bad at enabling on here!

Question: Would this be worth getting? I plan on using bowls not nipples, but this eliminates wet babies. I have the reamers I ordered I can use for both the food and water.

Yes, but I don't want "red pullets" or "mixed pullets" or "assorted bantams." Their specialty breeds are spaced out and come in on different weeks. If I want two sussex, two EEs, and two minorcas, for example, I can't come in at three different times and buy two chicks. I have to buy 6 chicks with every transaction. So, for every time I buy two chicks I want, I have to buy either six of that breed, or four more chicks I don't want. Ergo, to get the mix I mention above, I may have to buy 18 chicks, 12 of which I don't want/need. Get it?

I just fell in love with partridge silkies. Oh my! I'm going to get one partridge and one splash. That puts a halt to chicken math! Unless I want to get a blue one too..... :/

I'm more concerned with the wind than the temps right now. Not riding today since there is a chance for 25mph winds and I got too much sun yesterday. Tomorrow we will have 40mph gusts! I'll be inside all day.

D&L is the one off Hwy 380, kind of by Sonic. Nice people there. I won't shop the store on Chestnut. I do not like that man. I wonder if he treats men the same way he treats us.

I know I can have 12 but my yard can't handle 12 plus Sasha. I want some grass. Wait I already have some grass, I want a lot of grass! Shall I put you down for a BCM? They are arriving in 3 weeks. You can brood her with your silkies.


That is a really pretty wreath! I could get real eggs in all those colours! I've thought about adding an olive egger to my flock. Soon to be flock. Dang it! Chicken math is just too easy! Whay can't it be hard like advanced algebra, geometry or trig?

I love the one off 380. They are so sweet and helpful, without coming off as patronizing.
The guy at Chestnut appears to be non discriminating...he gave my husband a hard time when he went in to see if they sold chick grit and wood pellets. (They don't sell either btw).

I just heard they weren't as friendly, and that's a big factor for me. I love a colorful egg basket though..or I guess the idea of one, seeing as I don't have any eggs yet..

Yea but cleaning is no fun!!
Now that all 4 of my hens are pretty grown (about 30 weeks give or take) I'm very leery about adding more to a very happy bunch of hens. There is really no picking order that I can see. They hang out together, lay cooperatively in a pretty small coop, and seem to like each other's company.

Not sure if it's wise to upset the apple cart, so to speak.
Someday, I'd like to get another coop and then any new ones I get can just use it instead of trespass in the old hens coop. I don't know! Don't tempt me...my mom lives in Athens, close by Tyler. Ugh. You're very bad.

My "buff" may be a partridge. She couldn't tell, I didn't care..etc. Lol.
I'll have to look it up. Could you tell the difference yet?
I may take them out for some supervised outside time today after work. They're still too small to be out alone, even in the "grow out pen".

My NN roo Hawkeye. He has finally started crowing pretty well. He has been mounting up, and I got my first pullet egg yesterday. Can't wait to get some babies from him! Especially some EE/NN crosses.

He is so goofy, it' endearing! <3
